Hi all. I am Mum to an extraordinary Boy of 5 years old. He has just started mainstream school this past Sept. He can read, he can write, count, talk. He is so intelligent but has great difficulty with regulation of emotions and comprehension. While he has the reading ability of an 8 year old, he doesn’t comprehend what it is he is reading. Thankfully we are linked in with the services and he will have an assessment, however it is difficult to deal with the meltdowns, tantrums and challenging behavior. He can be very defiant and argumentative – particularly at night time. Does anyone have any similar experiences and has found ways of dealing with this?
